From লাতিন Lūcius from lūx, lūcis (“light”) from প্রত্ন-Italic *louks from প্রত্ন-ইন্দো-ইউরোপীয় *lewk- (“brightness”). Cognate of Mycenaean গ্রিক 𐀩𐀄𐀏 (re-u-ka), প্রাচীন গ্রিক λευκός (leukós, “white, light, bright”), Old English lēoht and ইংরেজি light.
