সম্পাদনাBelieved to be derived from লাতিন dominicus. An alternative form of Dodë (cognate to Gheg Albanian Ded, Dod). Derived from Dedalij,[১] the name of a figure in আলবেনীয় mythology. Described as being very tall, mighty and a giant (similarities with Gigas, Gigantes and Titans in গ্রিক mythology).
Probably related or a cognate to আলবেনীয় tëtanë (“all, people, total”); which derived from প্রত্ন-ইন্দো-ইউরোপীয় *tewtéh₂ (“people, tribe”). Recorded earliest since the 13th century.[২]
